Hypospadias in congenital patient

Hypospadias is a condition that is present at birth (congenital) in which the opening of the tube that carries urine and, in males, semen from the body (the urethra) is located below the normal location. This is caused by incomplete development of the urethra in utero between 8 and 20 weeks of gestation.

Various degrees of hypospadias result in an opening located anywhere along the length of the urethra. Degrees of hypospadias are classified according to location, including anterior (50% of cases), middle (20% of cases), and posterior (30% of cases). Hypospadias may also cause a curvature of the penis (chordee). Chordee is sometimes evident only with an erection. Severe chordee may result in the inability to perform sexual intercourse.

Without surgical correction, severe hypospadias may result in the inability to urinate standing and infertility.

Prostate enlargement

Prostate enlargement (or enlarged prostate) is a medical condition that is formally and scientifically termed as "benign prostatic hyperplasia," BPH for short. It is a common ailment afflicting middle-aged and elderly men. In the United States more than 50 percent of males aged 60-70 exhibit symptoms of prostate enlargement. And in Indonesia have a lot of patient with prostate anlargement.

Process of Development

Prostate enlargement occurs when the walnut-sized prostate gland fits its way between the urethra and the pubic bone. Because of the blockage, the muscles in the bladder will have to exert more and more force for the urine to pass through the narrowed passage. Subsequently, this causes the muscles to become more sensitive. The pasient suffering from this condition will thus have the urgency to urinate more often, leading to an enlarged prostate gland that will grow bigger in time until the bladder can no longer empty itself completely. When this happens, other more harmful medical problems concerning the bladder, the kidneys and the urinary tract may result.

Complications

While not life-threatening in itself, patient with BPH can lead to more serious conditions such as bladder stones, kidney damage, urinary tract infection, and acute urinary retention (where the urinary system halts completely). In most cases, an enlarged prostate simply needs to be monitored closely to prevent any further medical problems and complications.
